The best part is, both sides will HATE the other. They are, in short, really good at becoming things and thinking/acting in a way the Borg aren't prepared for. They can create the relevant tech for commbadges. We've seen (and promptly ignored, probably for the best) that a changeling was able to just.make themselves spaceworthy. They can mimic something down to the subcellular level, able to trick a tricorder. Their advantage though, is they are led by another "weakly godlike" entity-the Changelings. They also appear to have more space, more races than the Feds. They are at least equal to the Federation's tech curve, albeit in a less agile sense (they build strong and hard tech, not the Fed's overdesigned and overly adaptable tech). They have minion races that are built for a specific purpose, and weaknesses given to make sure they remain loyal if the religious fervor doesn't hold. The Dominion however, seems to be masters of the genetic. They are masters of technology, nearly indestructible without specific knowledge of them, and unflinching in their desire to assimilate biological and technological distinctiveness. The Borg are in my "weakly godlike entity" catagory-they are a superior threat in a lot of ways, able to adapt that overwhelm most baseline Trek cultures, while still being weakened by some of their moral failings to a degree where a captain and crew can stop them for an episode. I'm also fairly confident the klingons would try to win via "how many warbirds can we slam into that cube?!" (will probably lose), and the Romulans will do sneaky sneaky (may or may not lose).īut then I thought-what about the Dominion? So we all know that the Federation will fight off the Borg with cleverness, rapidly adjusted shield frequencies, and heroic pluck and lead actors. Like, I'm not sure which way it would go. that" fight, and this morning I came up with one that I was pleased to find-is really tricky.
